Portfolio managers Jim Schier and Mark Mitchell don’t aim to look like the benchmark. Both Jim Schier and Mark Mitchell have earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst^® and have been working together for nearly 10 years.

James Schier, CFA
Portfolio Manager
Jim joined Security Global Investors (SGI) in 1995 as a senior equity research analyst and has been managing the Rydex SGI Mid Cap Value Fund since its inception in 1997. Jim is also responsible for managing the Rydex SGI Small Cap Value Fund as well as co-managing the Rydex SGI All Cap Value Fund. Jim has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining SGI more than 10 years ago, Jim was a portfolio manager with Mitchell Capital Management and a portfolio manager and vice president with Fourth Financial. Jim began his career as a research analyst at Stifel Financial and Mercantile Trust, focusing on the retailing and financial services industries. Jim holds a bachelor’s of business administration with a concentration in accounting from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Washington University. He has also earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst^® designation.

Mark Mitchell, CFA
Portfolio Manager
Mark, who joined Security Global Investors (SGI) in 2002, is responsible for managing the Rydex SGI Large Cap Value Fund and co-managing the Rydex SGI All-Cap Value Fund along with Jim Schier. He has more than 22 years of experience in the financial services industry. Before joining SGI, Mark was vice president and portfolio manager at GE Asset Management (GEAM). Prior to this role, he held several other positions at GEAM, including sector portfolio manager/research analyst as well as senior financial analyst in the firm’s Taxable Fixed Income Group. He also held various financial analyst positions at GE Capital. Mark holds a bachelor’s of science degree in finance from the University of Notre Dame, an MBA from the University of Nebraska and he completed the GE Financial Management Program (FMP). He has also earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst^® designation.
