Proposed Reorganization of the Rydex|SGI Alternative Strategies Allocation Fund and the Rydex|SGI Variable Trust Alternative Strategies Allocation Fund
Late last year, Guggenheim Partners, LLC announced the expansion of its investment management capabilities under the brand Guggenheim Investments, which includes legacy Rydex|SGI products. As a result of the expansion, as well as part of the natural course of business, the firm is streamlining its product line-up. Specifically, the Board of Trustees has approved the reorganization of the Rydex Series Funds Alternative Strategies Allocation Fund into the Rydex Series Funds Multi-Hedge Strategies Fund and the Rydex Variable Trust Alternative Strategies Allocation Fund into the Rydex Variable Trust Multi-Hedge Strategies Fund. The reorganizations are subject to shareholder approval. Shareholders will receive proxy statements that will include information about the reorganizations and how they can vote their shares in the coming weeks. If approved, the reorganizations are anticipated to take place on or after April 20, 2012. The reorganizations are expected to be tax-free transactions.
